With the end of the school year drawing near, there were awards assemblies today for both the 1st and 3rd Graders. I went not knowing what to expect and was overjoyed and SO proud as I left each assembly!
Karlee received 2 awards today: The first one is The Superintendent's Academic Achievement Award. It is given to students who have had a 3.75 gpa or higher all year this year... And second award she got is SO OVER THE TOP (Ok, yeah...I'm proud!!). She received the Utah State Board of Education Certificate of Outstanding Performance on the Iowa Tests. Karlee received this award for scoring in the top 10 % in the NATION in...not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 of the 6 Categories on the test!!!!! The categories that she received recognition for are Mathematics, Science, Core Total and Total Composite! We are so proud of her. She works so hard in school!
Also, for the entire school year, there has been a contest called "Ken Garff Road to Success" Ken Garff donated 4 bikes to the school (a boy and a girl bike for grades 1-3 and the same for grades 4-6). For every 100 minutes that the students read during the year, their name was put into the drawing. They drew the 4 winners last night and...yes, Karlee won the girl bike in her grade categories (1-3). She averages about 90 minutes a day of reading! HHmmm, takes after her mom...always has her nose in a book!

Never fear...Carson also earned an award at his assembly this morning! Back in January, the 1st grade students were challenged to read 100 books by May. Well, my Carson (who couldn't talk 19 months ago) read over 140 books...since January! I am SOOOO proud of him! I am constantly amazed by how far he has come this last year and a half!

That is so awesome! Those pics are so cute of both of them. It's amazing how far Carson has come... what a miracle, and what a wonderful little boy!
That is so exciting. Contracts to both (and mom of course) for doing so well! And how fun to have a new bike to celebrate with.
Way to go guys. 140 books is such and accomplishment. There were kids that didn't get that and they didn't have the barriers that Carson has. It amazes me every day how far Carson has come. He never lets anything be a barrier. We are way proud of him.
