2010 – Oh What a Year!
Dear Family and Friends,
Oh what a year!...that is our theme for this year (unbeknownst to us at the beginning of the year…lol)! It actually started in December of last year – when we literally received the BIGGEST SHOCK of our lives…Tracy was pregnant! What???! You say! It’s not possible…yea, that’s what we thought too! That’s what the doctor’s told us all those years ago, but Heavenly Father works in wondrous, miraculous ways…and always on His timetable.
So we began preparing for our little miracle! In February, we learned that it was a little girl! Oh happy day! Carson cried for 45 minutes because he wanted a brother. But, wouldn’t you know, he loves his little sister more than he could ever have imagined!
In June, Trent flew to Tallahassee, FL (home of both of his brothers and their families) for a job interview. Upon returning home, he was offered the job…a fabulous job, with a wonderful, family oriented company. So, at the end of June, Trent headed out to Florida leaving pregnant Tracy and the kids in Utah. Due to a “small” snag with the COBRA insurance Tracy would have to stay in Utah until after the baby was born in order for the costs to be covered “in-network”. We met with Tracy’s Doctor and scheduled an induction for her 39th week, so that we could be as sure as we could be in this situation that Trent would be able to fly back for the delivery.
Of course, things never go as planned; 8 days after Trent left, Tracy went into pre-term labor while at church. Her sister, Mindy (a Registered Nurse), drove her to the hospital where they were able to stop the contractions (thankfully)! On a follow up appointment with her doctor, we learned that Tracy’s blood pressure—which had been perfect her entire pregnancy—had suddenly shot up (hhmmm, I wonder why…). This required her to go on bed rest for 2 weeks in order to get her to her 37th week at which point they would induce labor. Ok…so we now have a miracle pregnancy, a fabulous new job (and a husband who is across the country), and Tracy on bed rest (with 2 other kids at home) all while trying to sell a house. Not the perfect scenario to say the least, but we made it! Trent flew home 2 days before Tracy’s 37th week and the scheduled induction. On Monday, July 19th 2010, Grace Helen Ladle was born via c-section (yep, another thing that didn’t go as planned). She was 4 pounds 11 ounces, 19 inches long, healthy, beautiful and perfect! We couldn’t be happier, more in love, or more smitten with our little angel!
4 weeks later the kids and I joined Trent in Tallahassee, FL…our new home! Despite a rough beginning (me being post partum and extremely homesick) we are truly loving Florida and the people here. We just closed on a home here and are thrilled to finally be on our own again; we lived with Trent’s brother, Mike, and his wife, Annette, for 4 months while we were trying to sell our house in Utah. But, another thing that isn’t fitting into our “plans”…our house in Utah has still not sold! We are praying with everything in us that it will happen soon as our first house payment on our new home here is due January 1ST - and man, 2 house payments are definitely not in the budget!
The kids love their new school (especially being able to wear shorts almost year round), they are both making new friends and they seem to be adjusting well. Tracy is finally not crying every day because of home sickness, and she actually loves that there is NO SNOW and that it’s hot/warm pretty much year round. She loves her time with “Baby Grace” (aka Gracie, Miss Grace, baby girl and Grace). She is cherishing every single moment with her…even if it means that she doesn’t get anything done all day! Grace is growing and progressing and was just over 12 pounds at her 4 month appointment. She is smiling, laughing, rolling over, babbling and pulling things to her mouth!
Trent is working for Gates that Open (GTO) as their Supply Chain Director. He has never been happier in a job! He really lucked out…this is such a wonderful company and they have been so good to us throughout this transition! I love seeing him happy and excited to go to work each day!
We hope this holiday season finds you all as healthy and happy as we certainly are! ...oh yea...and WARM (because we CERTAINLY are here in Florida!...lol)
Lots of love,
Tracy, Trent, Karlee, Carson, and Grace Ladle

Love the Christmas card. Glad to hear you are nearly settled. What a stress right before Christmas, but it will probably be your most memorable year what with a new home just in time for the holiday. All the kids are growing so fast!
