Anyway, On Christmas Eve, Karlee informed us that she would be making breakfast for all of us on Christmas morning! She is turning into quite the little chef! She made a fabulous breakfast of Swedish Pancakes (her personal favorite)!

This year, Karlee wanted a desk from Santa! He brought her a gorgeous distressed white desk with a hutch! She was so excited! Isn't it beautiful?

And Carson wanted a skateboard and a ramp from Santa...oh man, I'm a little bit scared about his one :) But, Santa was good to Carson also, and brought him a skateboard and ramp combo (the combo part included a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads...Santa must know Carson really well).

Of course, the kids were excited to open their Christmas Eve pajamas. Christmas Eve was a little bit different this year. Ever since I was a baby, my family has always celebrated Christmas Eve with dinner and our gift exchange. It used to be at Oma's house (when I was little) and then Mom eventually took over. Well, this year, Mom had just transferred to a new department at work and had to work on Christmas Eve until 8 pm. So, no traditional Christmas Eve for us - a first in over 35 years! We would be having our annual Christmas dinner and gift exchange at Mom's on Christmas Day - evening! But, my sister, Mindy saved the day for us...she decided to host a Christmas eve dinner at her house for her husband's family and they invited us to join them! I was so relieved...I wasn't sure what we were going to do on Christmas Eve...I was at a total loss, because I'd never had to think about anything except going to mom's.

And then, finally, our traditional Christmas dinner at Mom's house! There is always lots of yummy food and Mom totally outdid herself on desserts this year! Plus, Mindy brought my favorite dessert - potato bug pie! It was so good...of course, it didn't stay down :(...but it was worth it!

A Minnie mouse watch for Karlee!
Aaahhh...Santa knows what pregnant Mommies need...crackers!
We also celebrated in our traditional style with the Ladle's. We always do a soup dinner...where everyone brings a different soup and then Janel also brings her famous, yummy, homemade rolls. This year, we did it on the 18th of December, and we hosted it at our home. This was the night that we read "the story" to the Ladle's. So, they knew about the baby before my family! They too, were all so excited!
That was another reason why I was so bummed about Mom not doing our annual Christmas Eve dinner...I would have to wait one more day to read them our story. But, it was worth the wait! Neither Mom, nor Oma seemed to think it was a "true" story at first. Until, the end when I started crying while trying to finish reading it. I think Mom "got it" first. Oma actually giggled at the end when I said, "mama is absolutely positively pregnant"...she thought it was just some cute funny story! But, in the end, we were all in tears and celebrating another miracle together this Christmas! Of course, Mindy already knew...she's my sister, after all and a Registered Nurse...I can't keep anything from her! :)
Over all, it truly was a wonderful, fabulous Christmas! I mailed our story to my dad (s) along with their gifts, with strict instructions not to read the story until everyone was gathered together and then they had to read it aloud! They couldn't believe it either! My sister, Hailey texted me right away to congratulate us! She said that she kept saying, "OMG...she's pregnant" (while dad was reading the story) and dad kept sayint, "No- she can't..." Anyway, surprise, surprise!
Merry Christmas!
