Saturday Ramblings...

Last night Trent and I went to a Utah Grizzly's Hockey game with some of his friends from work. It was nice to get out and have an actual "date". However, those who know me well, know that I'm not at all into sports - I don't know much about them, don't follow them, and much to Trent's disappointment, I don't care to. When he first asked me about the hockey game, I told him no, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought that it would be fun to do something that he wanted to do for a change. Plus, it was a great opportunity for a date!

Those of you who know Trent, know that he eats, breathes, sleeps, dreams...lives for BYU Football! He and his friend have purchased season tickets for the past 15 years. One year, when we were newly married, we purchased a set of tickets for me also. I stuck it out for the whole season...but that was 12 or so years ago, and I haven't been since. I know that Trent would love it if I would follow BYU football with him, so I'm going to list some things that I love about BYU Football:

• I love that Trent has taught the kids all about BYU Football! They know more than I do! I love watching them watch games with Trent! I love hearing him teach them and talk to them about plays and penalties!

• I love my BYU Hoodie! I wear it on game days. I must admit that since being married to Trent, I can truly say that I'm a BYU fan! Just because I don't follow the games doesn't mean that Trent hasn't rubbed off on me for the past 15 years :)

• I love that whenever Trent has a birthday, I know what to buy him! (His closet is nothing but his work/church clothes - dress shirts, slacks & ties - and BYU t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, coats, hats, ear muffs, rain gear...and on and on!

• I love the passion that he puts into his photography hobby. He probably takes about 400 pictures each game! He post them on his "Cougar Blog" and has had requests from players and their families for copies and to use them on their blogs. He also had to email "Cougar board" and tell them that they were using his photo's on their site and not giving him "credit" for them!

• I love watching him teach Carson all about football! Carson knew at the age of 4 the right way to carry a football, pass a football, change directions while running with the ball (I'm sure there's a name for that - I just don't know it!). I also love hearing Carson tell his Speech Therapist up at the University of Utah that "Utah is yuk"...and "go BYU".

• And my favorite thing about BYU Football...drum roll please...is the last home game of the season!!! Yes, that's today! I dread football season because I'm a football widow on home game days. Because Trent's such a huge fan, game days are about 11 hour days for him. This morning he left at 8:30 for a 12:00 game and he probably won't be home until after 6:00. Why, do you ask, does he have to leave so blasted early? I have asked this question for years...even though I know the answer...I just can't fathom it! Well, I'll tell you - he and Brad "hang out" by the locker room to get pictures of the players, have the players autograph pictures that Trent took at previous games, chit chat with the players...oh yes, and go into the Cougar Den to buy yet more BYU clothing, hats, etc! No, I'm not a bitter football widow, I used to gripe and moan on game days (ok sometimes I still do), but I've come to realize that this is Trent's "thing", the highlight of his year and I would never want to begrudge him of that! Heaven knows, he doesn't complain about my scrap booking purchases!

So...this post is for you, babe! I love you, even though I don't love sports! And, I love that you have this time every year to go and enjoy the games. And...I'm going to love being able to have some Saturday's in the near future that are "my days" where I can take off and do whatever with my sister or my friends, while you stay home with the kids!

Here is a video that Trent put together from the UNLV game a few weeks ago. He put it together using pictures that he took! I must admit that seeing these cool video's makes me so proud of him!

• Oh yeah...and I LOVE when BYU wins against Utah...you can't live in our house and not be excited about that!
