Back to School...

It's hard to believe that I am blogging about the start of another school year! Summer went by way too quickly (although, there towards the end, I was ready to send them back to school!).

Karlee started the 4th grade this year...what happened to my baby girl? She is growing into a beautiful young woman! Her teacher is Mrs. Douglas and she is thrilled to have her as a teacher...although she is sad that Saige isn't in her class again this year. Hello...she lives across the street...you'd think those two would get sick of each other...but they are joined at the hip. Which, I think is great, as Saige is such a wonderful girl and a great example to Karlee.

She insisted all of last year that she was growing her hair out...and then a week before school started, she decided that she wanted another short style. This time, she told the stylist exactly what she wanted. It turned out darling. I've always said that she looks great with short hair (she has the perfect face for it!) So, I was thrilled that she wanted it cut short again! It is really short in the back and she uses a special "styling taffy" to spike it out. Oh my...so grown up!!! School shopping was also a new adventure this year...she actually wanted to pick out her own stuff and try it on...gasp!!! Whatever happened to me just picking up stuff when I saw it on sale and putting it aside for school? Now, I don't dare buy her anything without her with me because she is so particular!

Carson started 2nd grade this year! Crazy...he has turned into a little man! Although, he is still mischievous as ever - I don't think that he'll ever outgrow that! Carson's teacher this year is Mr. Carter! I am so pleased that he has him for a teacher. He is a wonderful teacher and he expects a lot from his students...in turn, his students respect him and also love being in his class (what a great combination!) It will be good for Carson to be in his class. He also has animals that he will be bringing to school during the year, so Carson will love that!

Carson was very excited after the first day because not only is Katie in his class, but he is sitting next to her (remember Katie from a few posts down...if not, go and read it, it's hilarious!)

School shopping for Carson is always easy, as long as I don't try and buy him any dressy clothes. He wants T-shirts and shorts/pants. I told him, while we were shopping at Kohls, that he needed to pick one shirt with a collar on it. You would've thought I asked him to put on a tuxedo...it took longer to find him a collared shirt then it did for Karlee to find her clothes, try them on and make a decision. I guess I just have to face the fact that Carson is perfectly happy in t-shirts. (Hey, it's a heck of a lot cheaper)!

So, alas, summer is over! I am going back to teaching "Hot Math" at the kids' school. I tutor 1st and 2nd graders in Math. It is part time and it is a perfect job for me. I was busy doing 1st grade assessments the first week of school, but now I have a week or so while all of the data is complied before I have to be at the school every day. It is nice having a quiet house! I've been able to get a little scrapbooking done. By the way, the scrapbook pages above were made using my newest kit (not even released), called "2 Kool 4 Skool". It will be released on Sunday. You will be able to get it for free on my scrappin' blog for one week and then it will go into my store!

Trent left this morning for the season opener for BYU football. They are playing Oklahoma and the game is the first ever college game to be played in the new Dallas stadium. So, Trent is stoked. Of course, he's stoked...he going AWAY to watch his favorite team play in a brand new stadium...while I'm here with the kids, hoping that Carson doesn't get into too much mischief. It seems he always does the "big stuff" when Trent is away...so, we shall see! Go Cougs!
